drboots Ok, so I freely admit I bought this album and typed this comment before even listening but ... have you read the text accompanying this release? I have, and I bought it as soon as I had read it. It's an instabuy to quote @YomaBarr and it's not just in Greece where this political manoeuvring is taking place, it's all over Europe and further afield I'm sure.

YomaBarr I've read the disclaimer, instabuy. Nasty feeling, but it's good to know I am not alone. Hails.

(metalheads start at track 4 😏)

How much time do we have? 5 years? How much time do we have, maybe a hundred years? Will comets fall, from the sky above, like tears? Is it gonna be one of our usual fears? Will we ever see the story of our pitiful end? Will it be majestic, will it cleanse our fears? Will it be just stupid, a human mistake? Or has already started and we just play dump? Sin and sin and sin Drain all the resources, spill all the water Further expand your knowledge, till you reach zero hour We pray for science fiction That we may never see The expiration date Maybe is close In a blink of an eye everything becomes light. Or nothing. We are nothing but a grain of sand in an endless beach Magnificent achievements swept away By the tidal wave of Armageddon We pray for science fiction That we may never see The expiration date Maybe is close Prophecies to scare little children Hatch our fears through all our lives Exorcising bigger questions Never let us free Everything is destined to end And it makes me tremble, I cannot find rest I just watch the world crumble before my eyes And I pray that this is all a bad dream Everything is destined to end And it makes me tremble, I cannot find rest The world changes in a second of time So check in your calendar your own demise We pray for science fiction That we may never see The expiration date Maybe is close Prophecies to scare little children Hatch our fears through all our lives Exorcising bigger questions Never let us free

Gazing towards our monstrosity Our subtle truth beyond curiosity Fading Away Words float astray Challenging futilely our body and will Masturbating before a utopian thrill Numb and calm, hedonic capitalism We ourselves our prey, sardonic existentialism I will bury myself into my hate for humanity I will be prepared for our last spark of sanity And all the dreams that I have known the deepest wells are now their home And all the love that I have shown was thrown away in the ashes of our crown
7.
Ideals that stayed into words A coffin nail of false gold When the dust settles And tears run dry You will know The promise of a deeper reality Of a meaning in the suffering of man Has lead me here tonight Into the dark night of the soul The dice revealed their face It spoke annihilation all along Out of ulterior motives born The Gods have asked for Fire and Death! Who are you, mortal, to deny? I deny the comfort of your egoistic schemes Your victories will be naked in time You will see your fake order collapse into dust You will see your loved ones die before your very eyes You will see civilization crumble into ruins You will see men kill each other in madness Your dreams withered away Thus us life Thus it has happened and will happen again You will not be indifferent You will not be untouched You will take in your heart All the tragedy of the world And withstand! You will still be there, in the thick of battle For the last stand For glory, For love, For hope, For man's quest towards the eternal Is carried on by a conscious, free sacrifice Forgive them for their Eyes of Hatred No one will ever know the truth But Me! I see the fabric of the world unfold There is something hidden underneath A bright light emerges from the depths...

What were you christened, child? Wax hollow space between strike and sound Your heart is serving its years, harmless It speaks a fake language Like a bow the hand wields Sword without meaning and vector You are just appreciating the painting The order of this image Flatterer, you are dead My words are not your own, replica My horrible hope is not yours, remember Bring down the wall of Truth And kill the men who speak so simply Let this ablation go unheard To a god unknown, without name

The fire escapes on roof of past mistakes The evidence was proof of what it takes To balance on your own and see what you can own of what is sacrificed The killer runs in awe of what achieved The smile is gone along with child belief The word is ruled by numbs whose boredom let the throne for ego build a crown The innocence of children playing with joy Transforms into aggressiveness to toys Then problem starts with “why” but ends when they decide that solving’s hard to figure The clouds of questions gathered on the ground The rain of answers waters warms of prouds The sun is reining sky, the earth surrends in time of human mental dryness The game’s afoot but I don’t need to play The naked stand on shadow spelling pray The hunting’s on the move and I just got into the mood for tracking saviours Track the saviours!

Has death ever made you scream? Have you seen somebody die and their loved ones weep? The streets are filled with blood Our consciences are full of guilt The least we can do is speak The news are lying about it People are trying to get away with it Have you ever walked over somebody's death scene? Have you ever seen best friends be torn apart? Have you ever seen mothers holding their children's pictures so no one forgets? Have you seen children lose their faith overnight? We have inequality to blame We have those in power to blame We have the rich to blame We have our privileges to blame We must learn not to turn the other cheek We must learn not to look away We must stand with those that are being killed everyday We must stand with those that are being silenced We must shut up when they speak We must listen closely We will never forget We will never forgive

Τα λόγια που φεύγουν από το στόμα των τυράννων Τα άνθη που πιάνουν τα βρώμικα χέρια τους Οι ασπίδες που κρατάνε μπροστά σου Οι αλυσίδες τους εγκλωβίζουν όλα τα σπαθιά του κόσμου Μέχρι που το μόνο κοφτερό πράγμα που θα μείνει Είναι το δόρυ του τυράννου Με το οποίο υπόσχεται να προστατεύσει τους αδύναμους Ενώ τους διαπερνά από την μια άκρη ως τη άλλη Λόγια δυνατά που καλύπτουν τις φωνές που χαροπαλευουν Το μόνο που μπορούν να κάνουν είναι Να τραγουδήσουν ώστε να ξεπροβάλλουν πάνω από τον θόρυβο Και αυτό που λένε αυτές οι νότες είναι ότι Από κάθε χρυσοστολισμενο ανάκτορο Απ' το σιδερένιο βήμα που αγορεύει ο κάθε τύραννος Απ' την βαθιά τρύπα που κρύβεται ο κάθε φασίστας Κάτω απ' το αμνοσχημο κοστούμι του κάθε βιαστή Θα αναβλύσει αίμα αρκετό ώστε να γεμίσει Την μεγαλύτερη και πιο κόκκινη λίμνη της γης Προσέχετε λοιπόν εσείς που απεχθανεστε τη βία όμως την ασκείτε Γιατί όσο φωνάζετε δεν ακούτε από λόγια Πέρα από τη γλώσσα του σπαθιού Το φως μας είναι ενίοτε λευκό και ενίοτε μαύρο Ενίοτε ζωογόνο Και ενίοτε Φονικό The words that come out of the mouths of tyrants The flowers that are touched by their dirty hands The shields they hold in front of you Their chains try to imprison every sword in this world Until the only thing that it left with an edge Is the tyrant's spear With it they promise to protect the weak At the same time that they're thrusting it upon them Loud words that cover voices that are fighting for their life They only thing that they can do is To sing so that they can stand out from the noise And what these notes are saying is that From every golden palace From the iron podium that every tyrant is making a speech From every deep hole in which a fascist is seeking refuge Under the lamb-shaped costume of every rapist Enough blood shall gush over to stream into The largest and reddest lake of all earth You should be careful then, those of you that supposedly are disgusted by violence Yet are constantly carrying it Because your loud voices make in impossible for you to listen at anything other than The language of the Sword Our light is sometimes light and sometimes dark Sometimes life-giving And sometimes Murderous

LYRICS Past stormings of heaven; A Descendance to Hades In the fields of ruination; [we] buried our redemption. We. tοοκ up arms. We stοοd like giants. We. Halted the world. We. Priced & Sold -- Translation --- (EXCERPT: AGREEMENT N.1 (1957) - Tasos Leivaditis) No one. Desolation. Only on the walls of the crumbling streets the marks of our old bullets stare at the town with a murky eye. Like the scared eyes of a betrayed brother. To arms; to arms. We are finished. No more tears. Those who cry are those who still hope, in the end. No death either. The defeated cannot die. Like a knife that opens a jammed coffin, despair keeps their eyes wide open. To arms. Yet remember. We once had dreams – Flags in the streets, steps, cheers. Our hands planned on the horizon the great polities of tomorrow. And we were singing; together. And we were hoping; together. And we were falling; together

(Press more for English)

For the last year the citizens in most countries have been technically in a “house arrest”, a society without the capability of socializing. The Greek government accuses civilians every day, through corrupted and fully controlled media, for their supposed blunder and lack of responsibility against the pandemic, their way to avoid their responsibility for the despicable way of handling this crisis. Hiring cops instead of doctors, inviting tourists in a reckless way during the summer, and constantly opening and closing industries according to their market value, and not even trying to hide their lack of “personal responsibly” they attend meals and walk around undisturbed, hoping they will win points in the next poll.

At the same time the legislative work continues, including horrific changes in our every day lives, like the privatization of health, education and insurance agencies, while banning every protest using the pandemic as pretext. Even with these conditions protests happening almost on a daily basis. In such an environment of recklessness and censorship, last week a law that threatened any artist or transponder of any work that could be considered “controversial”, randomly connecting it with “incitement to violence” in accordance with the terrorist act, was proposed. It was masqueraded as a law against hate speech against race, gender, sexual orientation etc in art and audiovisual material. Similar laws in Germany and Spain resulted in the incarceration of several artists. After heavy protest the law was “temporarily changed”, transferring the blame to providers (such as YouTube).

The government used a law against far right hate speech, which already exists either way in the anti-racist law, and the “Horseshoe Theory” as to target progressive movements at the same time, the same government that attacks with hatred against refugees, immigrants and solidarity movements protecting them. It becomes clear that the state tries to gag anyone who doesn’t fit with their agenda. The outcry against far right speech, in arts or otherwise, it’s a “social consequence” that we should strive for every day. It’s not something we trust the state to do acting as a referee. Not because turn a blind eye, but because it’s clear that judgment of anyone being in a position of power is biases so as to keep their seat, and because such a restrictive logic does not solve the problem, it actually enlarges it.
In this context we decided to release this compilation as a minimum sign of protest, demanding the immediate withdraw of the specific article, and to express our solidarity towards those who’ve been persecuted with similar laws. We want to show through this material that we’re not going to silence and that we will continue produce provocative material. If the arts in general wish to not continue their way to become nothing but chip thrills for one day, they should dare to comment about the faults of our everyday lives and freely express any frustration of the common folk. We decided that this compilation, which includes a variety of rock and metal genres, to be distributed as “Pay what you want” and all income with be given to the self organized collective “Το Ντουλάπι”, in a move to try and help people in need during this trying time we live.
